Freewheeling

freewheeling.png

Freewheeling is a new way to be In The Muse-ical Moment.
It’s a live looping instrument that returns us to the joy of making music spontaneously.

Freewheeling allows us to build repetitive grooves
by sampling and directing loops from within spirited improvisation.

It works because, down to the core, it’s built around improv. We leave mice and menus, and dive into our own process of making sound.

Freewheeling runs under Linux and is open source software, released under the GNU GPL license.

In The Pit is a free  "audio-only" stealth action game, in which you play a nasty creature living at the bottom of a pit, hunting down people who fall in. The "audio-only" part means that there are absolutely no graphics at all. For example, here’s a screenshot:

Free : AmazingMIDI

AmazingMIDI automatically transcribes music, converting WAV files into MIDI files. It can recognize single-instrument polyphonic music. It’s a powerful tool to help you to transcribe music, to practice musical instruments and to make MIDI files, and so on.

AmazingMIDI creates an Output File (.mid) from an Input File (.wav) that contains musical data, and a Tone File (.wav) that consists of monotone data. AmazingMIDI analyzes the Input File, assuming that every sound in the file is played with the same tone color as the one in the Tone File. As a result, even if the music contains several different instruments, AmazingMIDI writes down all detected notes as a single-instrument music.

The quality of music recognition depends on the tone color of the music. AmazingMIDI is suitable for analyzing the precise-frequency attenuating sounds like piano or guitar. The drum sound becomes only noise.

Currently, automatic music transcription has no substantial solution in general, but with some restrictions of the domain, it can be both possible and useful. AmazingMIDI is one of these systems, and is still in its infancy. However, again, it’s a powerful chord analyzer.

Fiview -- A Digital Filter Design, Viewing and Comparison tool

fiview1.jpg

Fiview is my freeware application for Windows, Linux and Mac OSX that can be used to design and view digital filters. It also makes it very easy to compare different filters by allowing you to switch between them using the digit keys, and it generates efficient and readable public domain

Sonic Visualiser

Sonic Visualiser is an application for viewing and analysing the contents of music audio files.

The aim of Sonic Visualiser is to be the program you reach for when you find a musical recording you want to study rather than simply hear.

As well as a number of features designed to make exploring audio data as revealing and fun as possible, Sonic Visualiser also has powerful annotation capabilities to help you to describe what you find, and the ability to run automated annotation and analysis plugins in the new Vamp analysis plugin format.

Groovesinc

groovesinc.png

Groovesinc was designed for use with other VSTi that have a sequencer which is triggered by MIDI notes, It was originally designed so that Machine 2 would automatically start at the next bar, While designing and refining it though it became a lot more and is now very powerful when used in modular hosts, It has four seperate channels to send MIDI data on and that data wont be sent until the start of the next bar after you have pressed a trigger, The data will stop being sent at the end of the bar after you unpress the trigger, The trigger buttons can also be triggered by MIDI data, For realtime noodlin and jammin this is really really cool especially if you are like me and have a computer next to a set of turntables, In EXT it takes on all kind of possibilties because of all the things that can be triggered by a MIDI note, This was created in Synthedit by NAS and Dhaupt, Keep checking back for templates in EXT and Tracktion formats, We will supply clear images so if you are using another host you can recreate the templates, If you find any instruments this works well with let us know and we will make up some templates.

Tracktion Keys

settings_ctrlkeys.gif

Play any midi device with your computer keyboard. It is called TracktionKeys because I needed a simple possibility to play some notes on my laptop within Tracktion. You can use it for all other midi applications too! There is nothing that belongs to Tracktion only. It is tested with Tracktion and energyXT and should work with all applications and devices that can handle midi notes.
