FLAC stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec. Grossly oversimplified, FLAC is similar to MP3, but lossless, meaning that audio is compressed in FLAC without any loss in quality. This is similar to how Zip works, except with FLAC you will get much better compression because it is designed specifically for audio, and you can play back compressed FLAC files in your favorite player.
HammerSound is a web-site focusing on computer music and sound creation. The current target audience is computer musicians using a SoundFont compatible soundcard (like the SoundBlaster Live!, the AWE-range of soundcards, and several others). The site was created by Thomas Hammer in December 1997. Since then, several others have contributed ideas, content and infrastructure.
SF2LOAD ( under software ) is a small program that controls the SoundBlaster Live!/AWE32/SB32/AWE64 soundcard. It’s main purpose is to load SoundFonts into the memory of the soundcard. There is of course nothing remarkable about that, you can achieve the same thing using the SoundFont - AudioHQ [SBLive] or AWE Control Panel [AWE] program included with your soundcard. The reason I made this program was that I got tired of manually loading a different set of SoundFonts for every song I made - it’s a lot of clicking when you use the SoundFont - AudioHQ [SBLive] or AWE Control Panel [AWE], which are standard windows programs. SF2LOAD on the other hand is a command-line dos program which require no user interaction, and thus can be used in a dos batch file. I use SF2LOAD to automagically create a batch file containing all the SoundFonts the song uses, and I then run this bat file whenever I want to work with or listen to the song. SF2LOAD is also ideal for preparing distribution of songs that use SoundFonts.
Mobius is a program for the real-time creation and manipulation of audio loops. It has functionality based on the venerable Echoplex Digital Pro with Loop IV software. It is not a complete emulation, but it does implement many of the Loop IV features, as well as a number of useful new features. Mobius is essentially 8 synchronized stereo EDP’s with the ability to copy loops and timing between them. Extensive MIDI and computer keyboard control is available. Audio content may be saved to and loaded from files.

aubio is a library for audio labelling. Features include onset detection (the complex task of labelling the beginning of notes and other sound events), silence detection (an easier but very useful task) and pitch detection (the estimation of the fundamental frequency of the sound).
The aim is to add these automatic labelling features to other audio softwares. Functions can be used offline in sound editors and software samplers, or online in audio effects and virtual instruments.
